Who are we?
VICAR was founded in 1972 when two family ceramic businesses, which had been operating since 1913, decided to merge together to form one company. The businesses, led by Mr Rafael Vila and Mrs Carmen Carpintero, formed together to make what VICAR is today – a leading ceramic materials supplier.
During the early stages, VICAR supplied traditional ceramic clay locally and nationally. However, over the years it began to expand internationally, supplying products to the rest of Europe and the Mediterranean basin.
At the end of the 1980’s, as the market began to evolve, VICAR started to develop a new range of products in the area of technical ceramics (cordierite, alumina, steatite, etc) and is now the market leader in Spain for technical ceramic compositions.
Due to the increase in the volume of products, at the beginning of the year 2000, VICAR expanded and moved to new facilities. Now VICAR has a manufacturing plant, a pilot plant and a research laboratory, spanning over 6,000 sqm. VICAR’s products are now exported to more than 20 countries worldwide.
